"The original structure had small windows and dark paneling, so when Goolrick installed an entire wall of industrial-style windows in the addition, it was a bright and welcome relief. Goolrick's design was inspired by the influential modernist Case Study Houses of 1945-66. The range of materials steel, stone, glass, wood and concrete were chosen because they are durable and they also defer to the colors and textures of the landscape."
